Youth Sailing
For 2024 the club is again planning to offer the full range of RYA Youth Sailing Scheme courses with RYA Stage 1 and 2 courses getting those juniors new to sailing or with limited experience up and running (well sailing!) and Stages 3 and 4 and the Advanced Modules developing skills, experience and confidence.
Regular Junior/Youth sailing sessions are available (see dates below), which allow the club’s younger sailors to get together and gives them the opportunity to build their skills and confidence through structured, relaxed and hopefully fun sailing sessions.
For sailors without their own boats the club has a number of Toppers, Picos and Lasers that members can hire, subject to availability.
The monthly MKBYSA club training sessions give the club’s sailors the opportunity to visit other local clubs for some focused race training sessions and qualification races for the annual NSSA regatta. Further information about these sessions can be found under the Youth Sailing-MKBYSA tab above.
For the older and more experienced youth sailors we run an Assistant Instructor (AI) programme, giving sailors the opportunity to train as Assistant Instructors and assist and support the club’s training sessions. AI training also starts to put in place many of the skills (both sailing and teaching) necessary to go on to become fully qualified RYA Dinghy Instructors.
Junior Membership
The club requires that the parents or guardians of a junior member, ensure that a member of the club, either themselves or a nominated representative, is present at all times while juniors are using the club and facilities.
