Training at Emberton Park Sailing Club

Emberton Park Sailing Club is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised training centre, which means we can offer RYA qualifications recognised the world over.

We are not a commercial centre so are only able to provide training for members only. So please join first then take advantage of our great training at very competitive rates.

The courses currently on offer include:


Level 1 – Start Sailing
Level 2 – Basic Sailing
Level 3 – Better Sailing
Seamanship Skills
Start Racing


Start Sailing – Stage 1
Start Sailing – Stage 2
Start Sailing – Stage 3
Start Sailing – Stage 4
(After Stage 4, a youth can participate in specialist adult courses)


Powerboat 1
Powerboat 2
Safety Boat
(At Powerboat Level 2, you are required to take part in the club Rescue Boat rota, 3-4 times a year)

All course materials are included, additional publications available on request.

Each course is two full days in total from the dates below, although we may be flexible if you are part way through a level/stage.

Each course starts at 0930.

As well as RYA courses, we offer a range of ongoing peer coaching and training such as one to one, ladies sailing, racing and basic race officer training.

11/12 May – Experienced members without a qualification or those wishing to finish elements of a stage or level

8/9 June – Stage 1,2,3,4 Youth Sailing or Level 1,2 Adult Sailing


13/14 July – Stage 1,2,3,4 Youth Sailing or Level 1,2 Adult Sailing
